Electrical Line Worker Career Path

65 Credit Hours

The General Technology degree allows students to become multi-skilled technicians by creating an individualized plan to meet their career goals. Students complete the general education curriculum and coursework in at least two technical areas. The primary technical specialty consists of at least 21 credits from an approved degree, diploma, or technical certificate currently offered by the college. Students also complete a minimum of 12 credits in a secondary path with guidance from their faculty advisor.

This career path is open to students who have completed and received the Electrical Line Worker Third Class certificate. Students must be utility employees during the semester they are enrolled in specific courses. Students will develope advanced skills in electrical circuit analysis, power systems, line construction, safety, first aid, CPR, advanced studies in electricity, supervisory skills, accounting and leadership training.

Students can earn only one General Technology degree in a single career path.

Students must complete at least 12 credit hours in a secondary specialty path. Your degree path may require more than 12 credit hours to complete the associate degree. Your academic advisor must approve all secondary studies.

Admission Requirements


Admission into this program requires proof of high school graduation (or GED) and qualifying scores on SAT, ACT or the TTC placement test.

Note: This program is open to students who have completed and received the Electrical Line Worker Third Class certificate.
