Veterinary Technology, AAS (AAS.VETET)


Associate in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology

71 Credit Hours

This degree prepares graduates to assist large and small animal veterinarians and provides career opportunities in research laboratories and pharmaceutical and veterinary supply businesses. Veterinary technicians assist veterinarians by obtaining and recording case information, preparing animals for medical and surgical procedures, obtaining specimens, performing laboratory procedures, applying bandages and splints, assisting with anesthesia and surgery, and many other challenging tasks.

Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam and the South Carolina licensing exam. Successful completion of both examinations will allow the graduate to be recognized officially as a licensed veterinary technician.
