Respiratory Care, AAS (AAS.RESPC)


Associate in Applied Science in Respiratory Care

81 Credit Hours

Respiratory care is a specialty in health sciences that focuses on the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system. This degree prepares students for employment as advanced-level respiratory care practitioners and is housed on the Thornley Campus. The program prepares students for the National Board for Respiratory Care’s registry examinations. Upon successful completion of these exams, graduates are designated as Registered Respiratory Therapists.

Trident Technical College’s respiratory program, located on the Thornley Campus in Charleston, SC, CoARC number 200008, Associate Degree program, is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).

Program Goal


The Respiratory Care program goal is to prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains of respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapists (RRTs).
