Associate in Applied Science in Emergency Medical Technology
64 Credit Hours
This degree program prepares students to practice in the complex and dynamic profession of the EMT. The curriculum is structured to allow the beginning student to test and practice as a basic or intermediate EMT while continuing in the advanced program. Internships and clinical experiences strengthen learned material and prepare the student for the reality of practice.

General Education Core Requirements
Program Requirements
In addition to meeting the college’s general admission requirements, including submission of official high school and college transcripts, APPLICANTS TO THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM MUST COMPLETE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: - Complete the EMT Program Application.
- Complete MAT 033 Developmental Mathematics or higher with a minimum grade of C, or submit a qualifying math placement score.
- Achieve a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA at the time of acceptance and at date of entry into the program based on classes taken within five years of acceptance into the program.
- Submit proof of attendance of a mandatory advising session with a full-time EMT faculty member.
- Submit an Observation Form, which is located on the EMT program web page, documenting a minimum of twelve hours of observation work of an EMT-Paramedic employed by an emergency service agency. The applicant is responsible for arranging the observation experience.
- Submit a Statement of Completion form online. The link to the form can be found on the Health Sciences web page.
General Admission Procedures
- Students will be notified by email with the date and time of the mandatory program orientation. Failure to attend will result in forfeiture of one’s seat in the program.
- Students will be required to provide a completed, current Health Sciences - Student Health Record, including all immunizations and titers, TB or Quantiferon Gold (PPD) tests and current Healthcare Provider CPR certification, major medical insurance and medical professional liability coverage.
Note: Falsification of any information submitted will make a student ineligible for admission to or continuation in the Emergency Medical Technology program. Note:
Applicants will be admitted to the Emergency Medical Technology program on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis. Applicants are considered qualified for admission to the next available class when they meet all college and program requirements. Qualified applicants will be notified via my.tridenttech.edu email indicating the year and term that they have been admitted. Course Progression
To progress to the next EMT term/semester, the student must achieve a grade of C or better in all courses required for the program. |
