Associate in Applied Science in General Technology
Medical Assisting Career Path
60 Credit Hours
The General Technology degree allows students to become multi-skilled technicians by creating an individualized plan to meet their career goals. Students complete the general education curriculum and coursework in at least two technical areas. The primary technical specialty consists of at least 21 credits from an approved degree, diploma, or technical certificate currently offered by the college. Students also complete a minimum of 12 credits in a secondary path with guidance from their faculty advisor.
This degree is a completion program for students with a Medical Assisting Diploma (DAS.MEDIA) . Students may complete this degree concurrently with the Medical Assisting Diploma (DAS.MEDIA) . Students who already hold this diploma should consult with the program advisor.
Students can earn only one degree in General Technology in a single career path.

Students must complete at least 12 credit hours in a secondary specialty path. Your degree path may require more than 12 credit hours to complete the associate degree. Your academic advisor must approve all secondary studies. Admissions and Program Requirements
General admissions procedures are also required for the Medical Assisting program. - Students will be required to provide a completed, current Health Sciences - Student Health Record, including all immunizations and titers, TB or Quantiferon Gold (PPD) tests and current Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification, major medical insurance and medical professional liability coverage.
- Students will be notified by my.tridenttech.edu email the date and time of the mandatory program orientation. Failure to attend will result in forfeiture of one’s seat in the program.
In addition to meeting the college’s general admission requirements, including the submission of high school and college transcripts, applicants to the Medical Assisting program must complete the requirements listed within the curriculum display for the Medical Assisting Associate Degree link on the program web page. Note: Falsification of any information submitted will make a student ineligible for admission to or continuation in the Medical Assisting Program. Course Progression
In order to progress to the next term/semester once accepted into the program, students must: - Earn a grade of C or better in all courses required for the program.
- Earn a satisfactory grade of S on professional development evaluation.
- Maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA throughout the program.
- Successfully meet a stringent clinical attendance policy.
