Associate in Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology
68 Credit Hours
This degree prepares students for entry-level positions in medical laboratory science. Typical jobs include medical laboratory technician in a hospital laboratory setting.
The degree prepares students for the ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) Board of Certification or the AMT (American Medical Technology) Certification exams. These exams are the nationally recognized credentialing exams for the majority of medical laboratory employers in accordance with the CLIA’88 personnel standards. Upon completing this program, the students are also eligible to sit for state licensure boards in all states except California. The credential the students earn upon certification by either exam is Medical Laboratory Technician.

Admissions and Program Requirements
General admissions procedures are also required for the Medical Laboratory Technology program. - Students will be required to provide a completed, current Health Sciences - Student Health Record, including all immunizations and titers, TB or Quantiferon Gold (PPD) tests and current Healthcare Provider CPR certification, major medical insurance and medical professional liability coverage.
- Students will be notified by my.tridenttech.edu email the date and time of the mandatory program orientation. Failure to attend will result in forfeiture of one’s seat in the program.
In addition to meeting the college’s general admission requirements, including the submission of high school and college transcripts, applicants to the Medical Laboratory Technology program must complete the requirements listed within the Medical Laboratory Technology Full-Time and Part-Time Curriculum Details links on the program web page. Note: Falsification of any information submitted will make a student ineligible for admission to or continuation in the Medical Laboratory Technology Program. Course Progression
Before progressing to the next semester, students must attain a minimum grade of C in each lecture, laboratory, and clinical component of the program and achieve a minimum grade of C in all prerequisite and corequisite courses.
