Veterinary Technology, AAS (AAS.VETET)


Associate in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology

71 Credit Hours

This degree prepares graduates to assist large and small animal veterinarians and provides career opportunities in research laboratories and pharmaceutical and veterinary supply businesses. Veterinary technicians assist veterinarians by obtaining and recording case information, preparing animals for medical and surgical procedures, obtaining specimens, performing laboratory procedures, applying bandages and splints, assisting with anesthesia and surgery, and many other challenging tasks.

Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam and the South Carolina licensing exam. Successful completion of both examinations will allow the graduate to be recognized officially as a licensed veterinary technician.

Admission and Program Requirements


General admissions procedures are also required for the Veterinary Technology program.

  1. Students will be required to provide a completed, current Health Sciences - Student Health Record, including all immunizations and titers, Rabies vaccinations and major medical insurance. Please see the program webpage for further information.
  2. Students will be notified by my.tridenttech.edu email the date and time of the mandatory program orientation. Failure to attend will result in forfeiture of one’s seat in the program.

In addition to meeting the college’s general admission requirements, including the submission of high school and college transcripts, applicants to the Veterinary Technology program must complete the requirements listed under Program Information and Curriculum Display on the program web page.

Note: Falsification of any information submitted will make a student ineligible for admission to or continuation in the Veterinary Technology program.

Course Progression


Before progressing to the next semester, students must attain a minimum grade of C in each lecture, laboratory, and clinical component of the program and achieve a minimum grade of C in all prerequisite and corequisite courses.
